'We don't need to reconnect to nature, we are nature.' Discover wholeness and health as Brigit Anna McNeil and Dartmoor's Daughter lead you on a journey into the moor and the woods along the river to explore Autumn's edible offerings.
You will learn how to identify edible seasonal plants and leaves, seeds, flowers, and roots. And understand how to prepare them for cooking and eating or for potent medicines to nourish, strengthen or cleanse. We will bring something simple with us to share as a wild tea at lunchtime.
Brigit Anna McNeil is a professional forager, earth based herbalist, facilitator, nature connection guide and therapist. She takes people on a journey of reconnecting to their own nature and innate wisdom, inviting them into deeper relationship with life through immersion in and with the natural world.

Further Information
Level: Easy. The pace will be gentle with many stops along the way but you will need to be agile enough to walk over a few rocky sections, and cross a small stream.
What to bring/wear: Plenty of warm layers and waterproof jacket with trousers (whatever the weather forecast); waterproof boots (wellies or walking boots) so that we can cross a stream together; packed lunch and drink; and something to sit on.
Meeting time/location: 9.15am for 9.30am walking start at Brimstone Down moor gate on the way to Kestor and Batworthy-in-the-Moor. Grid reference SX666872. The nearest postcode is TQ138ET but please don’t rely on sat nav to get you to an exact location on Dartmoor.
Directions - From the centre of Chagford, drive along Mill Street for approx. 150 metres until you reach a fork in the road (signposted 'Gidleigh' right and 'Fernworthy' to the left). Turn LEFT on to Manor Road towards ‘Fernworthy Reservoir’.
Follow this road for approximately 1 mile then take the second RIGHT turn signposted ‘KESTOR’. Follow this uphill, twisty and narrow road (don't turn left or right) for approximately 2.5 miles to the moor. You will know you’ve arrived at the open moor when you drive over a cattlegrid. This is the meeting point where we will start our walk.
To park, keep driving along this tarmac road for approximately 1/4 mile (you will see impressive Kestor up on your left) and park in the grassy carpark next to a large round stone pound on the right (marked ‘Round Pound’ on the map) or in a small parking bay along the way if you find one. Please don't block any gates or tracks. Please allow 10 mins to walk back to the moor gate.
If you reach a stone road bridge over a stream and second cattle grid into 'Batworthy', you’ve gone too far. This is a private lane.
There is limited parking so PLEASE CARSHARE where possible - Let us know if you can offer a lift or need a lift.
If you need directions or more information, please get in touch before 8.30am on the morning of the walk, mobile reception is patchy or non-existent on the moor.
Cancellation Policy: The walk will go ahead come rain or shine.
