Share in the joy of finding and eating wild foods. This foray around Steward Wood will open the world of edible spring plants to those who wish to discover and share knowledge. You will learn:

* The Golden Rules of foraging
* Classifying plants by family
* Some medicinal uses of plants
* Wild food recipes
* The basics of preserving foods
Along the way, you will sample yummy wild goodies, and be introduced to recommended guidebooks and websites.

Fee: £20 Adult. £10 Children. Pre-booking essential. A percentage of the fees goes towards Steward Community Woodland. And a donation will also be given to Donate for Dartmoor and the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams.
Further Information
Level: Easy - The walk is approximately 1.5 miles and will be a slow pace but you need to be comfortable with some uphill and occasionally muddy path in the woods.
What to wear/bring: Sturdy walking shoes; plenty of warm layers including hat and gloves; waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast); drink/hot flask. And please bring some food to complement the wild salad we will collect for lunch.

Where to meet: 9.15am for 9.30am Walking start at the car park at entrance to Steward Wood near Moretonhampstead. We will meet you there and walk you up to the woodland.

Organisers: Dartmoor’s Daughter creates nature-connection walks and experiences to enhance health, wellbeing, and performance. We have invited Daniel Thompson-Mills to co-facilitate this walk. He lived at Steward Wood as part of the low impact eco-community there for 18 years. He has been a wild food practitioner and teacher for 20 years. He has a passion for facilitating nature connection and as well as teaching bushcraft and nature awareness skills, and is an archery instructor.
