It is with great regret that this years Dartmoor Walking Festival has been cancelled.
Journey back in time by walking part of the old South Zeal-Hangingstone Hill peat merchants and tinners track that skirts dangerous Raybarrow Pool, visiting the Bronze Age Whitmoor stone circle with its magnificent 360 degree views, and impressive reconstructed triple stone row known as the Graveyard or Cemetery. Climbing up Cosdon Beacon for stunning views, we end our day with a refreshing swim at the beautiful Shilley Pool. For safety reasons this event is limited to those aged 16 and over. Total distance will be just under 6 miles.

Further Information
LEVEL: Moderate, distance approx. 9km or 5 1/2miles
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR: Warm layers (especially to put on after swimming), sturdy walking shoes, waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast), sunscreen (here's hoping!), swimming costume and towel, as well as lunch, snacks, and drinks.
We also recommend bringing personal masks, a pair of disposable gloves each, and a personal first aid kit. (From a safety perspective, this offers additional protection against Covid-19 if there were to be an accident and first aid is required by me or the rescue teams. Sorry we know it seems onerous but, given current government guidelines, these are currently being proposed by all guides.)
TIME/WHERE TO MEET: 9.45am for 10am walking start at the small roadside car park near Clannaborough Cross (Grid ref: SX659913). Please car share where possible.
