fungal foray.jpg

Enter into the world of fungi with Dartmoor's Daughter, Devon's top mycologist Dr Christian Taylor, and Daniel Thompson-Mills of Steward Community Woodland. On a walk through the woods you will learn how to identify edible and other fungi and find out all about this marvellous kingdom of nature.

Tickets

FEE: £25 adults and £10 under 16's. Group size limited so pre-booking essential.

We need to retain contact details for 21 days post-walk so please include your contact details (email and mobile/telephone when booking/paying.) And check your emails 12-24 hours before the date.

Further Information

LEVEL: EASY - we will be walking at a slow pace with plenty of stops for approximately 2 miles. We will mostly be on woodland paths but there are gentle slopes to walk up and down.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: Plenty of warm layers, sturdy walking shoes or wellies, waterproof jacket and trousers (Dartmoor weather is unpredictable), hat, gloves, as well as hot drink/thermos and snack.
Sorry no dogs.

We also recommend bringing personal masks, a pair of disposable gloves each, and a personal first aid kit. (From a safety perspective, this offers additional protection against Covid-19 if there were to be an accident and first aid is required by me or the rescue teams. Sorry we know it seems onerous but, given current government guidelines, these are currently being proposed by all guides.)

MEETING TIME & PLACE: 9.15am for 9.30am start in the carpark below Steward Community Woodland. Car sharing in your ‘bubbles' is encouraged please as parking is limited and we lessen our impact on the environment through sharing. Thank you.

DIRECTIONS: Steward Wood is located 1 mile south of Moretonhampstead in the Wray Valley. The A382 (which runs north and south between the A30 and the A38) passes the woodland. Exeter is about 14 miles away to the east and Newton Abbot is about 12 miles to the south. Postcode TQ13 8SD. For directions by car, bike, public transport or by foot visit the website.

CANCELLATION: This walk will go ahead come rain or shine. Sorry no refunds if you are unable to attend. Dartmoor’s Daughter has received the ‘Good to Go’ Industry Standard Certificate.  If you have a cold, flu, cough, temperature or are diagnosed with COVID-19 please do not join a walk if you have booked. You will be able to transfer your booking to another walk.

RISK: No liability accepted for accidents or incidents.
