Introduction to map-reading and compass work, this workshop combines navigation teaching with a walk so that participants get maximum opportunity to practice.

Level: 2 out of 5. The walk is gentle with a relaxed pace and several stops to practice navigation techniques but you need to be happy spending 3 hours covering 2-3 miles in hilly moorland terrain.

What to bring: Map (OL28 Ordnance Survey map of Dartmoor), compass, lunch, drink, sunscreen, waterproof clothing (even if the forecast is fine!), warm layers and walking boots.
