'Proper' Tales & Trails with 14th Generation Dartmoor Farmer

Join us to discover the hidden gems of Dartmoor. You will walk ancient tracks; be regaled with stories by local people of local people and history; and be driven between destinations in a luxury or vintage Landrover.

Tich Scott is a 14th generation Dartmoor farmer who runs 'Proper Dartmoor Tours'. He is an award-winning local dialect speaker, has been on BBC Spotlight several times, and knows everyone there is to know as one of Devon’s best loved comedians, story-tellers, and folk singers!

Emma Cunis established Dartmoor's Daughter to share her love of the moor through nature-connection walks and activities for enhanced health, wellbeing and performance. Her maternal family has loved and lived on/near Dartmoor for generations. Her grandmother Val introduced her first husband Eric Hemery to Dartmoor in the 1950s where he set up and offered guided walks and pony treks then wrote a series of well regarded books including ‘High Dartmoor’ described as 'the bible for anyone who has the spirit of Dartmoor’.


Tickets

Fee: £35 per adult. A small portion of your fee will be donated to Donate for Dartmoor and the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams.


Further Information

Level: 2 out of 5 We will walk for 4-6 miles with 1 or 2 stops along the way and driving in-between each walk in a vintage or luxury Landrover. Each walk will be approximately 2-4 miles long. The routes have been carefully chosen to take in local hamlets, open moorland, local farms, stories, history and wildlife.
(We will follow paths and lanes where possible but the terrain can be rough, muddy, or boggy in places so this day is not suitable for people with walking difficulties sorry)

What to wear/bring: Sturdy walking boots/wellies, plenty of warm layers, hat, gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers (even if the forecast is fine!), walking poles if you need them, snacks, drink/hot flask.

Children and dogs by arrangement.

Where to meet: 9.45am for 10am start outside the church in the village of South Tawton near South Zeal. The postcode is EX20 2LP but don't rely on your sat nav to get you to the exact location! There is parking on the street but it is limited so please car share where possible (email info@dartmoorsdaughter.com if you can offer or want a lift. Please park carefully and don't blocking any entrances/houses, thank you.)

Cancellation policy: The event will go ahead come rain or shine. Sorry no refunds if you are unable to attend.
