Dowsing Earth Energies

dowsing.jpg

The ceremonial complex at Sourton Down is ruinous but fascinating with the remains of an early Bronze Age stone circle; burial chambers; a possible stone row. Nearby is a tor with stunning 360 degree views on a clear day, as well as the ruins of an Ice Works that was built to supply ice in the winter to the fishing industry in Plymouth. Together we’ll discover the beauty of the moor, and explore the age, use, and energy of these sites.

Dowsing, a form of 'divining', has been used for thousands of years for many different purposes including finding water, oil, archaeological remains, missing people as well energy lines and testing for allergies. This day will be led by a long-time member of 'Devon Dowsers’ and will specifically focus on finding earth energies using rods and pendulums.

Tickets: £20 adults. Pre-booking essential as group size limited. (Sorry no dogs as it can be hard to handle rods and dogs at the same time). We need to retain contact details for 21 days post-walk so please include your contact details (email and mobile/telephone when booking/paying.) And check your emails 12-24 hours before the date.

Further Information

Level: Easy. The pace will be slow across 1-2 miles with several stops along the way.

What to bring/wear: Sturdy walking boots; warm layers; waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast); snacks and drink. And bring your own rods or pendulum if you have them. If you wish to purchase a pair of rods to use for the day and beyond, we can offer bronze rods made especially for our groups and sold at cost. The additional fee for rods is £10 and you can purchase when purchasing your ticket.

We also recommend bringing personal masks, a pair of disposable gloves each, and a personal first aid kit. (From a safety perspective, this offers additional protection against Covid-19 if there were to be an accident and first aid is required by me or the rescue teams. Sorry we know it seems onerous but, given current government guidelines, these are currently being proposed by all guides.)

Time/Where to meet: 1.45pm for a 2pm walking start at Prewley Moor car parking area. Grid Reference: SX544910. Directions: From the A30 leave at Sourton (Shell) Services and take the A386 Tavistock road. Take the second left (south of the slip road) towards Prewley water treatment works, and the car parking area is here. The nearest postcode is EX20 4HX but please don’t rely on your sat nav to get you to the exact location, it likely won’t on Dartmoor). Please do not block this entrance road, or farmers access to the moor. There are no toilets here.

Cancellation: The walk will go ahead unless there are strong winds or torrential rain. Please check your emails up to 24 hours beforehand. Sorry no refunds unless the event is cancelled or postponed.

Dartmoor’s Daughter has received the ‘Good to Go’ Industry Standard Certificate.  If you have a cold, flu, cough, temperature or are diagnosed with COVID-19 please do not join a walk if you have booked. You will be able to transfer your booking to another walk.

Risk: No liability accepted for accidents or incidents.
