We will follow paths and lanes where possible but the terrain can be rough, muddy, or boggy in places so this day is not suitable for people with walking difficulties sorry. The routes have been carefully chosen to take in local hamlets such as Sticklepath, South Tawton, and Belstone, open moorland, local farms, stories, history and wildlife.
MEETING LOCATION: Outside the Taw River Inn, Sticklepath, EX20 2NW. Directions - www.tawriver.co.uk/where-are-we.php
WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: Sturdy walking boots, plenty of warm layers including hat and gloves; waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast), walking poles if you have them, snacks, drink; and cash/card to pay for drinks/lunch at the pub.
Children and dogs by arrangement only please.
We also recommend bringing personal masks, a pair of disposable gloves each, and a personal first aid kit. (From a safety perspective, this offers additional protection against Covid-19 if there were to be an accident and first aid is required by me or the rescue teams. Sorry we know it seems onerous but, given current government guidelines, these are currently being proposed by all guides.)
CANCELLATION POLICY: The event will go ahead come rain or shine. Sorry no refunds if you change your mind about attending. Dartmoor's Daughter has received the ‘Good to Go’ Industry Standard Certificate. If you have a cold, flu, cough, temperature or are diagnosed with COVID-19 please do not join a walk if you have booked. You will be able to transfer your booking to another walk. Risk: No liability accepted for accidents or incidents.
