The King Way Walk - Dartmoor Walking Festival

Join us to stroll a section of ‘The King Way’ – an ancient track on Dartmoor that originally extended from London to Plymouth to carry the King’s post.

This walk includes stunning views; prehistoric burial chambers, and a stone circle not shown on the maps; an impressive Victorian viaduct and the ruins of a failed iceworks enterprise; beautiful tors; and a mysterious tale.


FEE & BOOKING:

This walk is offered as part of the *Dartmoor Walking Festival so a minimum £5 donation is requested please for Devon Air Ambulance.

For safety reasons this event is limited to those aged 16 and over.

Car park is accessed by turning off the A386 next to The Dartmoor Inn and driving up the small track behind the Inn and through the gate. The car park is free.

Further Information

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: Sturdy walking boots; warm layers; sunscreen; waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast); walking poles if you have them; drink/flask and snack or picnic lunch.

DOGS: Yes – by arrangement only
LEVEL: Moderate 12km or 7 1/2miles - you need to be happy spending approximately 4 hours in hilly moorland terrain

CANCELLATION: The event will go ahead come rain or shine. Payments are refunded (less the booking fee) for cancellations no less than six weeks before your walk or experience.

If you cancel after the six weeks, we would advise you please try to resell/pass on your ticket and/or we can try to re-sell your ticket (we sometimes have a waitlist although there is no guarantee) we can then offer a credit note for the ticket price (minus the £1 booking fee and minus a £5 admin fee).
