Dragons on Dartmoor (Rescheduled from 27th Feb)

dragon+eye.jpg

Dragons are real, yes really. They are usually friendly. But sometimes they can be very fierce and breathe fire if you upset them. There are several myths and legends about dragons living on Dartmoor. Tin-miners used to see ‘dragon’s breath’ vapours coming out of the tin mines. The dragon at Becka Brook liked to make a lunch out of the local farmer’s sheep and cattle. Lone travellers feared to walk too near the dragon’s lair at O’Brook in case they were eaten! And the tendrils of mist that come up through the forest are sometimes known as ‘dragon’s breath’.

As well as dragons living on top of the earth, they also live deep down below us. There are ancient energy pathways called Leylines or 'Dragon Lines' that exist all over the world. And many ancient and powerful places were built on them including Stonehenge and Avebury.

Tickets

FEE: £15 per adult. Group size is limited so pre-booking is essential.

We need to retain contact details for 21 days post-walk so please include your contact details (email and mobile/telephone when booking/paying.)

Location:

Combestone Tor car park. The nearest postcode is The Forest Inn at Hexworthy at PL20 6SD (from here follow the road towards Venford Reservoir for approx 5 mins and car park is next to the tor on the left side of the road from The Forest Inn) but please don't rely on a sat nav to get you to the exact spot! The car park can be found at Grid Reference SX670718 on the road between Venford Reservoir and Hexworthy. Mobile reception is patchy or non-existent so please get in touch if you need directions.

Car Sharing - Please car share in your ‘bubbles’ where possible. Parking is limited on Dartmoor. And sharing lessens our impact on the environment. Thank you.
