Witches on Dartmoor - Real or Imagined? (postponed from 28th Feb)

Witches walk.jpg

Beautiful circular walk to explore the location origins of a famous Dartmoor Witch legend. Exploring history and mystery along the way, we will see if we can reimagine these stories, and reawaken our innate human connection with nature, mystery and old magic.

(NB: Vixen Tor is on private land, so we will walk past rather than to it).

Tickets

FEE: £15 per adult.

Group size is limited to ensure a personalised learning experience so pre-booking is essential.

We need to retain contact details for 21 days post-walk so please include your contact details (email and mobile/telephone when booking/paying.)

Location:

Pork/Barn Hill car park on the Merrivale-Tavistock road. Grid Reference SX531751. The nearest postcode is PL20 6ST but this will not get you to the exact location. And we suggest that you don’t rely on a Sat Nav on Dartmoor as it is highly unlikely to take you to an exact location (or on drivable roads!).

Bus Services - The 98 and 272 pass here. The car park is not signposted so be sure to ask the driver to let you off at Pork Hill car park between Merrivale and Tavistock.

Car Sharing - Please car share in your ‘bubbles’ where possible. Parking is limited on Dartmoor. And sharing lessens our impact on the environment. Thank you.

Further Information

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: Sturdy walking boots; warm layers; sunscreen; waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast); walking poles if you have them; drink/flask and snack or picnic lunch.

Dogs - By arrangement only please.

We also recommend bringing personal masks, a pair of disposable gloves, and a personal first aid kit. (From a safety perspective, this offers additional protection against Covid-19 if there were to be an accident and first aid is required by me or the rescue teams. Sorry we know it seems onerous but, given current government guidelines, these are currently being proposed by all guides.)

LEVEL: Easy - approximately 5km walk in hilly, moorland terrain.

Route is dependent on weather conditions and group pace.

CANCELLATION: The event will go ahead come rain or shine. Payments are refunded (less the booking fee) for cancellations no less than six weeks before your walk or experience.

Dartmoor’s Daughter has received the ‘We’re Good to Go’ Industry Standard Certificate.  If you have a cold, flu, cough, temperature or are diagnosed with COVID-19 please do not join the walk. You will be able to transfer your booking to another walk.

RISK: Walks and activities are at your own risk. No liability accepted for accidents or incidents.
