DD fair pic.jpg

Join us for a great family day out at the Dartmoor National Park Summer Fair on Saturday 27th July.

Visit the Dartmoor’s Daughter stand to explore interesting Dartmoor finds and foods. And join me, Emma Cunis of Dartmoor’s Daughter, for a short walk 2-3pm to explore the beauty of the local area and some seasonal wild foods.

More about the fair:
The National Park Visitor Centre, Princetown, is celebrating all that Dartmoor has to offer with a great line up of guests, stalls and activities to fill your day. Meet Josephine Collingwood as she showcases her stunning book A Compendium of Tors which contains more than 700 professional photographs and fascinating facts about each of Dartmoor’s tors. For every book sale £2 will go to Donate for Dartmoor and help with vital conservation work in the National Park. Come along and get your signed copy.

Learn about the Dartmoor sheep story from weaving and wool, to shearing and the native Dartmoor breeds such as greyface and whiteface. Farmer and author Colin Pearse will be sharing his rare breed book. Talk to the wonderful artisans behind the Dartmoor Range products sold in the National Park Centres including mugs, sticks, hats, sauces, images and marmalade – something for everyone! Discover the Science of Wild Dartmoor! As well as learning about the amazing plants which inhabit moorland blanket bogs, join in with bug-hunting, plant trails, science experiments and nature crafts in our Dartmoor Conservation Garden.

Take a free guided walk with the Moorland Guides to discover Princetown and the surrounding moor, or meet the ever popular Two Blondes Walking who will share their Dartmoor adventures. Try out an off-road mobility scooter and get advice from the WAG (Wheelchair Access Group) on accessible walks across Dartmoor. Perhaps, you might enjoy finding and tasting foraged foods with Dartmoor’s Daughter. There’s so much going on at this popular event, now in its fifth great year. Doors open at 10 am and the Fair finishes at 4 pm. Be sure to give yourself enough time to fit everything in!
