Sacred Landscapes - Natural Formations & Our Relationship To Them (Online Talk)

online talk May 2021.png

Indigenous people around the world consider sacred the mountains, rivers, springs, trees, and other natural features. Perhaps the extraordinary tors of Dartmoor were similarly revered before the building of stone circles and rows. This illustrated and online talk will explore a range of natural features including springs; trees; and tors - looking at their different shapes and the stories associated with them, as well as the monuments that were built around them, some of which still exist to this day including Tor-enclosed Cairns; Tor Enclosures; and deliberately Propped Stones.
