Sacred Arc - 8 Stone Circles Walk to celebrate Summer Solstice

Walk through an ancient and ritual Dartmoor landscape. 8 prehistoric stone circles form an approximate arc and, plus others reported are possibly part of a much larger circle of stone circles around the high moor. So, taking an archaeological as well as phenomenological approach, we will journey together (sometimes in silence and sometimes sharing our experiences) through this wild and beautiful landscape asking questions of the ancestors, stones, and land along the way.

LOCATION: Grassy car parking area after 'Roundy Pound' on the way to Batworthy-In-The-Moor above Chagford.

National Grid Reference: SX663868

What3Words Reference: ///tripled.sprain.twee

Postcode: Nearest is TQ13 8ET but please don't rely on a GPS on Dartmoor as it's unlikely to take you to an exact location. It usually stops at the hamlet of Teigncombe which is about 3/4 mile before the meeting point.

Driving directions/any final details will be emailed approximately a week before the walk; please remember to check your junk email folder.
Please car share where possible. Parking is limited on Dartmoor and sharing lessens our impact on the environment, thank you.

Finish time will be approximately 6-7pm depending on our group pace and how long you want to spend in the circles.

LEVEL: Strenuous. Approximately 14 miles/23 km through hilly moorland terrain. We will stop and spend time at each stone circle (as well as the Whitehorse Hill burial chamber of the Bronze Age ‘Tin Priestess/Princess’) for anywhere between 10-20 minutes each depending on our pace.

Route is dependent on weather conditions and group pace.

Tickets

FEE: £45 per adult + booking fee including a coffee and pastry for breakfast to encourage an early start! Older children 16+ years are welcome if they have sufficient walking experience and fitness. Group size is limited so pre-booking is essential.

If you cancel more than 4 weeks before the date of the walk or experience we will send you a credit note to use within 1 year minus a £5 admin fee and the £2 booking fee.  We do not transfer tickets so in this instance you can use your credit note to rebook with us.

If you cancel within 4 weeks of the date of a walk or experience we recommend that you try to resell/pass on your ticket yourself. If you resell/pass on please let us know who will be attending in your place.

We have seen a significant number of cancellations over the past few years, and as a very small organisation we have suffered and therefore as a consequence we now have a strict no refund policy - we do hope you understand and will continue to support us.
